Clearly not.
Why be so demanding about such an obscure neighborhood? Try Google instead of being so boorish.

Did I say the neighborhood was boring? No, I said it was obscure.
I also said you were boorish, and I'll repeat that.

You do not know who I am you ignorant idiot, get out of my thread now before I report you to a moderator. It's not for you to judge someone.
Now i'll ask this once again, is the neighborhood any good.

This goes for everybody:
If you wait long enough maybe somebody will stumble upon the thread with an answer. If a question isn't answered then nobody knows. You're not being ignored, and we're not here at your beck and call.
Bklotto, calling someone an ignorant idiot is not allowed, and for a new member that's not a great start. Look up boorish, you obviously don't know what it means - your replies have been the very definition. Schadenfrau had it right.

This is territory I know a lot about. Until about 10 years ago, I definitely wouldn't have called St. Albans a good area. But it has improved a lot, like most areas of Southeast Queens, and I would put it on the safety level of the Ridgewood/Brooklyn border.

As you can see from the map, the railroad tracks separate St. Albans and South Jamaica. My opinion is that they are of equal safety level.
I'm bringing this up because if you are willing to live in South Jamaica -- on the St. Albans border -- you will generally get better apartments at lower prices.
The Locust Manor neighborhood is particularly good value. It's comprised of legal 2-family houses converted to legal 2-apartment houses. Most first floor apartments are so elevated that they are like second floors.
My (single, no family) friend is renting a 2-bedroom apartment in a Locust Manor house that has a kitchen, den and living room that are all separated and large. He also has a driveway and a backyard to share with the other tenant. It's not rent-stabiized, yet his rent is as low as if it were stabilized.
My friend never has had a problem with safety; he dresses down at night, but he did that when he lived in an expensive neighborhood. I dress down as a way of life, and I have no problem with visiting him. I also have no problem parking my car on the street. (Plenty of street parking,)
I think that the real estate in the Locust and Cedar Manors of Jamaica are undervalued. That's rare these days, undervalued real estate.
