A fire erupted on Spring St. at Geene St. in front of the CHANEL store at about 5:00 PM this afternoon -- seemingly from somewhere underground.
Smoke could be seen pouring up between the buildings along Spring Street, obliterating everyting to the west when viewed from Broadway.
Numerous FDNY and EMT emergency vehicles are on the scene. Helicopters are hovering overhead.
The acrid smell of electrical fires are in the air throughout SoHo and the vicinity.
