How could you be glum living in the greatest city on Earth?

Somehow they all manage.

None of those people look glum so much as they're not posing and grinning.

Are they glum for a reason? I thought "glum" was the common state of humanity. :D

Most seem to be either running errands, or doing their jobs. God knows I don't smile when I do either of those things, especially when I'm alone. For those that are in conversation, I'd describe their facial expressions as "engaged." But I guess glum works.

Nothing to get upset about.

One or two seem engaged in recreational activities they may not want their wives to know about.

Nothing to get upset about.
That's right.
