Lift your right foot off the floor and turn it in clockwise circles.

At the same time, with your right index finger, draw the number six in the air.

Can you do it without your foot changing direction?

I can't. :D

I have, but you need to focus on different things.

It is like trying to keep count when you are singing a song, or if someone else is saying numbers. Picture the number in your head rather than think "6" and you will get a better grasp.

As for teh foot and hand, do not think of "6" Think of the shape and asociate that with where your foot should be.

When you say something like "clockwise" you are not thinking spacially, you are interpreting the command to a certain direction. When you say "draw a "6"" it is the same thing. You let your foot go automatically, and it starts following your hand when your brain interprets the command to draw a 6.

Try this. Picture yout toe on "top" as you are at the top of the 6. Your toe should move right as your hand moves left. So the first point they should be at, toe/hand is 3/9 respectively.

Then 6/6, 9/3, 12/12. You may be rather gawky and uncoordinated doing it this way, but you will have kept your toe going clockwise and drawn a rather clunky "6".

My wife routinely reminds me that my brain resides in one of my extremities.

Not my right leg.
