Are no-fee apartment rents negotiable?

Has anyone had success with this? It would seem to me that an apartment listed for $3500 should be negotiable, but since these tend to be offered by large developers with their own leasing companies, I wonder how flexible they might be.

You never know until you ask.

I think your strongest position is to ask for a rent break while offering to sign a two-year lease.
