Hi everyone, I need to get to Foley Square near the Federal courthouse and was told to take Amtrak (from DC) to Penn Station; but does anyone know of a good place to stay that is close to Foley Square?

There are few hotels that are very close to the US Courthouse in Foley Square. If you'll elaborate on what you're looking for (especially your price range), somebody should be able to suggest one or two.

Hi, thanks for your response. I initially looked at expedia, and rates are anywhere from $200 to $500+ a night; my problem is I don't know which hotels, if any, are in walking distance to Foley Square. I wouldn't like paying $500, but I'll do it if I have to. Thanks again.

A clean, relatively inexpensive hotel a short walk from Foley Square: http://www.cosmohotel.com/

Very satisfactory.

Take a look at the Tribeca Grand Hotel (http://www.tribecagrand.com/) and the Millenium Hilton Hotel (http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=NYCMLHH). Both are a 10-15 minute walk from Foley Square but expensive. If you were willing to use a cab or subway instead of your feet, your options would grow enormously.

^ Those are good too, though they cost a lot more and are a longer walk.

Not cheap but very close by -- just a few blocks north:

Solita Soho Hotel (http://www.google.com/maps?hl=en&lr=&q=hotel+soho&near=New+York,+NY&radius=0.0&latlng=40714167,-74006389,15955169328341243560&sa=X&oi=local&ct=result&cd=3) - 0.6 miles NE - 159 Grand Street, New York, 10013 - (212) 925-3600

not sure of the rates, but there's a Holiday Inn (http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hotel/nycdt;jsessionid=C0T22LNSU3EMECTGWAISJBQKM0YBEIY4? _requestid=38647) just above Canal on Lafayette:
