Hello,

I am looking to purchase the copyright of a skyline picture of the Statue of Liberty taken from West side of Manhattan so that the statue appears at the beginning of the third quadrant with Manhattan island mostly on the left side. I need the distance of the shot to be far enough so as to create a website banner of approximate demensions of 750px horizontally by 115px vertically with most of the statue showing (minus the pedestal), as well as the skyline of manhattan island buildings with some sky space above.

I need the picture to be during the day-time with no snow or rain: a nice bright clear day.

I'm not too familiar with the legalities of copyrights, but I am seeking a situation where I have the legal right to make any adjustments to this photo that I desire for my website, which I will then later copyright, including the banner/graphics/text.

If you can indeed provide the above, can you please give me your fee for the service, as well as the refund policy incase I am not satisfied with the picture.

Thanks.

If no one comes forward, just look through the Photos of New York sub-forum here (http://wirednewyork.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=40) and see if you can find a photo that fits your criteria. Then contact the poster of the photo and you can both work out a little deal. :)

If that still doesn't work, you can always go out there and take a picture yourself.

You know what they say, "if you want the job done right, do it yourself." ;)

Yes, I may have to do this. I looked at the links graciously provided here, but unfortunately did not find the picture I needed.

Here are two examples, but instead of the shots being taken from the south-west, I would like one taken from the north-west so that the Statue appears much more on the right side of the picture:

You're going to need a shot from Liberty State Park in NJ.

A view from the Hudson River shoreline will not show the Statue of Liberty large enough relative to the Manhattan skyline, unless it's taken from far away with a long lens to compress the distance.

It's not the one you want, but still a good pic.

creative.gettyimages.com (http://www.wirednewyork.com/forum/creative.gettyimages.com). Do a search for "royalty free" images. Once you buy an image it's yours to do with as you wish. I would advise you to avoid flickr or any other amateur photo site (or just downloading a random image from the web) as you could expose your organization to copyright issues. If you go through Getty (or Corbis.com, or a number of other, similar stock image sites) you'll be safe.

Good luck.

Hello,

A while back I started this thread asking for a certain picture of the skyline of the Statue of Liberty. Well, I finally succeeded - I had a Manhattan photographer take the picture for me:) It is being used for a charitable organization, and you can see how we implemented the picture at the website: http://www.hdff.org/ Actually, the Photography company, Amiaga Architectural Photography, donated their services to our organization, so we were very appreciative.

Regards.
