Two junky stores, a camera shop and an "antiques" store, housed in a one story POS on the northeast corner of 48th and Lex are closing. Next to them is the equally filthy Bunny deli, which is housed in a two story POS. I genuinely hope that it's closing too and that both P's OS will be razed. Does anyone have any info. I read in the Post a long time ago that a hotel may rise on this site.
It would be an utter travesty if the POS that houses the deli is not razed.

But then where would the hookers (if there are any left) buy their munchies and cigs?

I assumed that the deli had to be closing because it's a small plot to begin with, and the project would not have made sense without the corner parcel which the deli occupies. However, unlike the camera and antique shop which have signs announcing "Closing: Lost our lease," there's no indication that the deli is about to close.

Today Bunny's deli had a closed sign and it was empty inside, is this site going to be a hotel?

Thank goodness. The Bunny Deli is housed in an utter eyesore.

Here's the building, as depicted on the architect's website:

From the architect's website:
The site of this hotel located at the northeast corner of Lexington Avenue and 48th Street is quite unique in its the relationship to the Park Avenue and Grand Central Station from the view point of Manhattan townscape. The mirror glass façade of the building reflects the surrounding classic old buildings blending the building into its surroundings despite the very contemporary character of the building.
The large authentic looking clock placed at the corner of the two streets, high above the building reinforces the design being strongly oriented toward the corner.

Maybe the guy doing the rendering stuck a clock there when no one was looking.

Thanks, man.
I always hated those eyesores. There are a few more on Lex in the 40's and 50's that must be razed. Lex has so many stunning old hotels and will be a great avenue when this crap is razed.

Does anyone know if the Bunny Deli has relocated?

Not sure but I always despised that deli. It was a total rip off, prices higher than any other deli on Lexington , and what an attitude those two extortionist women at the register had. The only reason they got away with it for so long was the patronage of clueless suckers from the neighboring hotels. Glad to see it go.

Those two women probably got the last laugh as they most likely received a big buy out.
