Try and be more specific...
If you answer the following im sure the nice ppl here will help you and the more details the more likley you are to get what u are after:
How much is too much, what is your max price per head
Do you want seclusion or are you happy to be in the middle of the restraunt?
You say "I was thinking Italian.." does that mean you want just an italian or is it worth looking outside of this?
Where are you staying/where is the wedding. You dont want somewhere on the other end of town... if you are set on Italian then i recommend staying in a hotel downtown...then you are close to little Italy
How many courses do you want?
Question to Forum Members: Anyone know of a good Italian that does not have a drink licence so lets you bring your own.......I'm thinking Champagne all round. This could save you a fortune and leave you with more money for the meal

Carmine's in the theater district and Tony's Di Napoli's in the Upper East Side both offer average food fare but in Italian family style.

I second Carmine's, especially for a group. You'll get plenty of food that is meant to be shared. The food isn't over the top, but is good! You might find that the one on the Upper West Side is a bit cheaper than the one in the Theater District.

i'd say about 50 a head.and we don't mind being sat in with a crowd,we're very laid back,and its only just a celebration meal--we don't like a fuss.somewhere we'll have a laugh---cheers

I think this place ticks all the boxes....anyone think differentley??

Look very nice, casual but elegant. The food looks nice and its in your price range
(Have you budgeted for gratuity?? For a table of 12 anywhere will most likley insist on 18%).
For something slightly different:
This place is listed as a Steakhouse/Italian:

They have a private room you can rent out (Acctually a screening room) where you can watch old films etc... either an old comdey or romance.. which I think would set a nice feel.
Its downtown... again this may depend on where about you are getting married.
