christmas decorations

I have booked a trip to visit New york for christmas shopping this november. Someoneone told me that new york dont put their decorations up until early december. Is this true as i really want to see it all done up for xmas as am travelling from scotland.

It's true, xmas decorations aren't in full-effect until the beginning of December. You will so some in November, but not all. I'd also suggest you visit in early December and try to stick to weekdays to avoid crowds. (though the city is fairly crowded throughout December).
