'SUPREME' ESCAPES EXECUTION

February 10, 2007 -- Notorious Queens druglord and convicted killer Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff was spared execution yesterday as a federal jury gave him life in prison for planning the assassination of two enemies in 2001.
After deliberating only two and a half hours, the same Brooklyn federal jurors who convicted him of the two contract killings last week announced that they were split on the death sentence.
By default, McGriff will be sent to a federal prison for life, without the possibility of parole.
McGriff founded the "Supreme Team" gang in the Baisley Houses projects, making tons of cash off the crack epidemic that swept through his neighborhood until going to prison on federal drug charges in the late '80s.
During the guilt phase of the trial, which ended last week, McGriff was convicted of hiring a hit team to shoot aspiring rapper Eric "E. Money Bags" Smith and Smith's friend, alleged drug dealer Troy Singleton. Yesterday, McGriff didn't blink as the jury forewoman announced his fate, but after the panel left the courtroom, he hugged his attorney, Jean Barrett.

So now he'll run his gang from prison.

Gangs in New York?

I hope we get the kind in West Side Story, who will dance and sing and use chainlink fence for ballet move leverage.

Bring on the dancing boys.
