Yea Comedy Cellar is very good. I enjoyed all the times I went there, and no it hasn't gotten chic (thank god).

I've had very good experiences with Gotham. Caroline's gets a lot of big names, but the venue is bigger and the prices are definately higher.

Coming over to NYC early April and want to go to a couple of comedy clubs.
Have been to Dangerfields & the Comedy Cellar on previous visits and enjoyed them.
Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated?
Saw Adam Ferrara for the first time in Denver at Christmas - brilliant!

Other past names that stick in my mind are Ben Bailey & Judah Friedlander.

Unless you are SOLELY into stand-up - i'd highly recommend going to the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre on any "sketch night".

Sketch comedy can be A LOT of fun - and UCBT often has funnier (and edgier) skits than anything you find on SNL

Upper West Side, 236 West 78th St, just off Broadway. Food comes from Ruby Foo's. I have not been there myself, just walked by one day.
