Can't say I know a huge deal about the serious theatre scene in New York, other than it's widely acknowledged to be up there with London as the world leader in English-language theatre. I hear The History Boys has been a huge success in New York - I saw the play during its first run in London and was hugely impressed - what do those who've seen it think? I'd be especially interested with regard to how well you found the humour and social climate translated to an American audience.

It was brilliant in a season of excellent plays. However, "The Lieutenant of Inishmore" was the better play and ought have won the Tony. Nothing was better, but it wouldn't have played as well to the pear shaped ladies in Iowa.
