Check out the Syms (Trinity & Exchange; Park & 54th) men's web page:

Twice a year Hickey Freeman (sold at Saks, Barney's, etc) puts on a sample sale of mens suits. More than half off retail and huge selection of sizes and styles (3 button and two button). I believe the next one is coming up in April. Register your email on this web site www.soifferhaskin.com and they will notify you by email when the sale is. Also bargain tuxedo's, dress shirts, and ties. Outerwear too, the last day of the sale they mark everything down even further.

Brooks Brothers in the One Liberty Plaza building down by the WTC site is a great place.

Thanks for all the responces. Will look into the above. Any opinions on Century 21 or Old Navy. How about Woodbury Common, is it worththe trip as I will be staying in manhattan.

Old Navy? They sell junk sportswear. Where would you get the idea they have suits?

Don't bother with Woodbury Common. What's the point of coming to NYC to shop in a suburban mall?

I can not stand shopping at Century 21. The men's suit dept. is not as bad as the rest of the store in that it is less crowded and they have more help. I haven't had great luck there-- but if you have the time and the stamina it's worth a go.

Being a innocent irish countryboy, i taught Old Navy was a similar type of store as Century 21, TX Maxx etc... thats one store off the list anyway. Think I will avoid the discount stores anyway and try find a specialist suit shop that also offers good value. Suits should still be much better value then in Ireland, where an average HugoBoss suit would cost around 650...thats almost $850.

At discount, a Hugo Boss suit here would probably start at $650 US, running up to about the same price as they are in Ireland. I don't think you're likely to find a tremendous discount, just like you're not going to find bargain Hermes in Paris.

Or cheap Guinness in Ireland...

You can get a suit at Sym's for 1/3 what you'd pay in Ireland (on a good day, 1/4): http://www.syms.com/departments.asp

Top quality designer clothing.

I don't work there, I just shop there ;).

Personally I would avoid Century 21. Try The Men's Wearhouse. I have bought a few things there recently and have been pleased with the quality, price and service. Their stores are much nicer than Syms.
