Anywhere to go fishing in and around NYC? I'd like to take my family and friends on a fishing trip. Anyone know of any good (legal) places to go fishing?

Are you talking about going out in a boat, or fishing from shore?

Either one. Preferably by the shore, its more private

Brooklyn:

Canarsie Pier

Pier at Shore Parkway and 69th St. Anywhere along the shore from the pier to Bay Parkway. The area south of the Verrazano Bridge, before Bay Parkway exit, is popular. There is a parking area off the parkway.

Coney Island Pier.

Sheepshead Bay, Emmons Ave for boats.

Queens:

Fort Tilden, just west of Riis Park. Park of Gateway. Surf casting, beach in its natural state. You will need a permit from the NPS.

Bayside Marina.
