I apologize for not having been able to make it last weekend, as I have been traveling to some exotic locales.

I suggest a meeting next week, perhaps Wednesday evening, somewhere near Union Square Park. Bring your camera, or not. But don't forget your best smoking jacket.

Post here to let me know what night/day of the week is best so we can all come to some consensus.

G.T.

Who else is coming? Organic food at you know where at the square and then a walk uptown.

Am I correct to assume that the photography will be at dusk or nighttime? In that case, I have a techie question about my PSA95's poor results when it's "light-challenged". (Manual doesn't cover it.) I guess I'll post it soon on the "Help me with photography" thread.

Err... you were kidding about dressing up, weren't you? I'm coming in from Forest Hills in jeans and sneakers, and on the miniscule chance that you were serious, I need to stuff a minor 'wardrobe upgrade' into my bag.:o

Your camera will work fine trust me.

If you dont want to wear the costume from Carmen Miranda, or a smoking jacket thats ok.

I hope we can do this Wednesday or Thursday.

Who else is coming? Photos, some little walking, good coffee and chit chat. And you get to meet some WNYers.

Thursday would be better for me: but at this point I am not certain. If I can be there I will confirm my plans with you by way of PM.

cheers

Washington Statue or Lincoln?

For the benefit of anyone else who is looking for the place to meet. There are other statues in the park: Ghandi, Lincoln, mabe more - but none of which is riding a horse.

The largest - and most prominently positioned - statue in Union Square Park is that of George Washington (http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/presidents/gw1.html) on horseback. The statue is near the 14th Street Union Square subway station. There are a couple of photos of the statue attached below; the place will be easy to find.

Cheers

It was great. But only 3 of us? Come on guys, we can do better than that.

Let me know if you any of you guys are up for a Sunday afternoon meet.

I'll try to post some photos too.

I can definitely make it Sunday afternoon.

If you can't think of anything to do (:D), there's an American Indian & Shad Fest in Inwood Park by the Hudson.

The 'Shad Fest' is a good idea: maybe Gregory has something in mind. I will pm you and Gregory for the particulars about the meet-up.

See you Sunday. :)

Clarification: the Shad Fest is only half of the "fest". The other half is an American Indian Fest with performances, representative tribes, booths, crafts, etc. Admission is free. For more info: http://www.lotusmusicanddance.org/main.html

It doesn't matter to me where we go, I just put this on the plate.:)

GT, I can't seem to reach you via PM, phone, or SMS to put together plans.
Infoshare, I have no way to contact you except for PM.

Since it's already after 9pm, I assume that tomorrow may not necessarily happen. I look forward to meeting everyone at a future time when we can make everything a little more definite.:)

Guys

My SMS wasn't working for anyone. Strange.

And I couldn't get onto the forum to see what was happening.

So I guess we shall have to meet another time.

You didn't get my voicemail message either...

Was your whole unit malfunctioning?

(No jokes about 'units', anyone!)

Where's Gregory Tenenbaum? Is he gone for good?

Couldn't even find him on the members list. Has he become a non-person?

I think he's been banned. Guess the mods finally got tired of his anglophobia

GT's ban is temporary. In the mean time, he can be reached at his personal blog:

http://www.turtlebayconfidential.blogspot.com/

My not being able to reach him was due to a telecommunications comedy of errors that was more my fault than his. From now on, I'll be taking care of one-to-one matters with site members either via PMs or outside this website.

Well Im Flattered!

I thought that I would be banned for good. What with my Kaufmanesque behavior and all. Obviously only a few of you got the joke.

All is forgiven, I hope by the forum members too.

Just make sure you all don't miss this:

Be sure to comment on my blog, all Turtle Bayers and WNYers are especially welcome to do so.

I didn't even know you were gone.

Being banned is no big deal. In some chav circles, it's even considered to be a badge of honor.

I've been banned like maybe 15 times.

(mostly for giving unsolicited fashion tips to moderators).

Anyway, it's nice to have you back.
