The sht shacks that were lined up on the south side of 42'nd street near Broadway were open today, but nothing was inside but a core-driller hooked up to the hydrant.
Looks like something is going in there, but what and when?
It is kind of hard to find a specific link, so if this has already been threaded and someone knows where, I would appreciate the link and apologize for the doubling!

I saw activity there recently too. It's good news.
PS: I think there's already a thread entitled Bush Tower annex.

Since people from Dubai build lavish projects, I speculate that this tower will be magnificent.

Well, given what is there now ANYTHING would be better.
That does not mean I would want a piece of......architectural infamy, but still it is good to see they got rid of those reject slumshops.
(I was wondering what was going on. I had not seen them open in a few weeks....)

This city's cheap-and-ugly-itis will rub off on them as well. No one is immune.

I don't agree. Many developers are willing to spend money to build great projects. Guys like Macklowe and Chang are the exception. Look at the B of A, NY Times, TWC, Bear Stearns, 15 CPW, etc. Developers from Dubai will make something impressive.

Exactly! What beer do you drink? I am a Stella man, though I also like Chimay, 1664, Spaten and Sam Adams.
PS: I assume you're a guy, but if you happen to be a 20 year old, blond woman, I'll buy you a beer even if you're right.
