Its kind of both, they current bridge will apparently close to traffic in 2013 so the new bridge will be there by then, will be a disaster otherwise. but ive not heard it will be destroyed, it may be kept open for light traffic i guess.

I am acquainted with a professor at an American university who directs archaeological excavations at Loch Lomond in the summertime. He tells colorful stories about the treasures and perils that are waiting at the "bonnie banks".:D What do you know about that area?

download a song called loch lomond by runrig and you'll find out! I havent been to loch lomond for many years, its not far north from Glasgow where i live and i have fauge memories of it as a child and going on the famous boat which gives tours of the loch. Its also a big controversial issue because it is becoming very busy and noisy with watersports which a number of people dont like.

Ah, yes, the prof said that the crowds of watersporters are getting in the way of excavations; trashing the area; and ruining an ecosystem that took millenia to form. Is anything being done to curtail this?

I think they imposed some kind of restrictions, time restrictions or restrict the activities to one part of the loch. Not sure though as i havent heard about it for a while.

Do Scots like Brits?

That a bit like saying do Californians like Americans.

English, Scottish, Welsh, NI's are considered British.

The Scots and English do have a history, however many people in
England are related to people in Scotland, Ireland, Wales etc or
have Scottish, Welsh, Irish ancestory.

Many Scots, English, Welsh and Irish live and work in each others
countries and in the case of England, Wales and Scotland, we
share a small island off Europe.

Btw Scotland dores not have a massive population, of the
UK Countries, England has a population of over 50 million,
Wales 3 million, Scotland 5 million and NI 1.5 million.

I am scottish but also passionately british, there are a good few nationalists in scotland but Im pretty confident we will never go independant and I think many people like the fact they are part of britain but not necessarily being british. Hopefully everyone sees sense and devolves government to england too and then everything should be fine and dandy.

So yes, i like myself.

I think I read somewhere that its either the most recognizable structure or the most famous structure of Scotland. Theres no way they could tear it down, structural problems or not, it would be like Brooklyn tearing down the Brooklyn Bridge.

The rail bridge is fine (my uncle painted it years ago by the way) but the road bridge is the one thats structurally failing now. Go figure, the 1800s bridge is pretty fine and the 1960s one is screwed.

Yes that is the one and only alonzo! The scot english things is case by case id say. Some hate the english for no good reason and some english people are just too arrogant against scots to like no matter what your position is on the matter.
