I'm thinking about moving to NYC either during or after my college career (I'm not going to reveal my age, but suffice it to say this is soon) and I was wondering what are the best neighborhoods to live in? I'd prefer to be in Manhattan, but I know the prices will be outrageous, so just say any nice, cheap(ish), safe and fun neighborhoods for a young 20-something to live in.

Thanks in advance.

All 'the best, safe and fun' neighborhoods in Manhattan are actually expensive. That is why alo of people are looking in Harlem or North Manhattan and other neighborhoods in the other boroughs.

Enough with the Astoria-boosting on these boards. It's a fine neighborhood, but it's certainly not the only neighborhood in New York City.

Tell us more about what you're looking for in a neighborhood, TOWM. What are you looking to pay? Will you live with roommates? Where will you be working?

Astoria is overrated. Try Jackson Heights/ East Elmhurst, it is up & coming
