Would anyone mind posting their information from a paystub for tax withholding (in percents)? I may be starting a job that pays somewhat above 6 figures, and then a year-end bonus on top of that. I don't think I will have any allowances other than the standard deduction and will have no contribution to a company 401k plan or other deductions (please post yours in percent also if you don't mind). Does anyone know if a year-end bonus is taxed at a higher rate than a base salary?

Your bonus will not be taxed at a higher rate, but it will be withheld at a higher rate, because the withholding will be based on an annualized projection of that bonus.

I ran the numbers for a NYC resident (based on $100k) and came up with this:

I'll leave it to you to figure exact percentages

Ouch exactly. That, combined with the absurd housing cost, is almost enough to make someone not want to live here.

If we could get fewer people to want to live here, we might be able to reduce the absurd housing costs!
