2007 Coney Island Mermaid Parade

This year a big crowd was expected. The barriers are usually curb to curb, but this year they were pushed in a few lanes on the north side of Surf Ave.

I was content to hang out with friends on the roof of Ruby's and just watch everything pass by on the Boardwalk, but I brought my camera and got a photography pass - just in case.

Got pretty buzzed before the parade even started, and soon thought, "What am I doing? 25th anniversary and I'm sitting down." We agreed to hook up later, and I headed out into the mass of humanity.

The parade was steamy this year, maybe because of apprehension of what lurked over the horizon.
