Need to get from Newark Penn Station to Yankee Stadium. Hopstop says New Jersey Transit to Penn Station New York, then A to 145, and finally B to 161st. Is this better and/or easier than Path to 33rd and getting on D at Herald Square?

If the D is running local at that hour, which it should be, just take that. Otherwise, I would just take the B. I'm not sure why you're being advised to transfer from the A- it seems unnecessary to me.

Because D does not run through Penn Station.

Remember that on the weekends PATH from Journal Square to NYC goes through Hoboken - so you not only have to transfer at Journal Square but add another few minutes to the already slowish PATH ride. It will take at least 40 minutes from Newark to 33rd St.

So just take a NJT train and hop on the A to 145th where you transfer to the D (not the B, which doesn't run on the weekends) to 161st.

I hadn't noticed that July 21st was a Saturday. In that case, the D will be running as the B.

As such, the D will be stopping at 34th Street. Personally, I'd rather take that than the A. Sorry if this is confusing, Original Poster. You're probably better off with JerseyGuy's suggestions, but I'm just loathe to take the A/C/E trains.

Hey, enjoy those horizontally-ribbed R32s while they last. They werebuilt during the early 1960s and will soon be replaced by newer cars!

You can take the PATH straight to World Trade Center, walk 1 block over to Broadway and take the 4 train uptown. Cheaper and only 1 "transfer".

^That's what I'd do.

Thanks guys!! I am from Virginia, but am somewhat familiar with the train systems in and around NYC, but know nothing about what runs when and stops where.

Another question.....where is Chinatown in relation to Penn Station New York?

About 50 blocks south east of Penn Station ...
