View Full Version : Where are 18+ clubs and clubs that take fakes?

July 10th, 2007, 02:32 PM
Hey I got a real problem. My folks and I just moved to the city, and I would like to take advantage of the the clubs, invite my friends from the island in, pick up some girls, but I am under 21, 18 to be exact. I am curious as to which clubs i can get in using my legal drivers license, or which clubs can one use a fake New York license, which actually looks just like the newly issued NY license just without the holograms etc.

Im not going to list specific places in fear of legal ramifications but usually dive places are pretty lenient, usually anything with the word "Blarney", if you see a line and a bunch of pretty ladies, don't even waste your time. Also Avalon or is it Limelight now is an 18 club.

Limelight is no more. It's Avalon:

From the Editors

It will probably take awhile before Avalon stops being referred to as the-club-formerly-known-as-Limelight, but such is the nature of legacy, even a tainted one. Steven Adelman and John Lyons have rechristened the soiled space with a heavenly new name, Avalon, which is also the moniker of their super clubs in Boston and Los Angeles...

NYC Nightlife Under 21:

This website emphasizes that you must call ahead of time because minimum age rules are subject to change without any notice.

(Avalon is still called "Limelight" here.)

Limelight/Avalon: both are closed. The only club that consistently allows under-aged people in is Webster Hall.

Limelight/Avalon: both are closed.
When did that happen?

It must have reopened recently, because it was definitely shut down in that series of raids last fall:

"I'm glad someone else is having a seizure besides me. I just tried to go to the club Avalon, but found the place boarded up, with a notice posted outside saying it's been 'seized' because of non-payment of taxes. Don't people ever learn? Back when Avalon was called Limelight, owner PETER GATIEN was jailed and deported for non-payment of state tax! This is all very taxing on my nerves."

AVALON has a new-ish sign out front of what used to be The Limelight ...

July 11th, 2007, 08:41 PM
The great thing about the old Limelight was that it attracted an incredibly diverse crowd. We used to walk over from the FIT dorms on Wedneday nights for the Disco 2000 party. Straight, gay, all colors, starving students and millionaires, it was a blast.
It's really hard to find that anymore in New York. The most amazing networking and outrageous encounters happened within that cavernous club.
Those were the days...
bah! I thought they turning it into bourgeois shoppes or something, weren't they?
