cool shops in manhattan???

is anyone aware of any 'alternative', hot topic or hot topic style shops on manhattan island??? im looking for band t-shirts a wide range of converse/vans shoes, that kind of thing.

also, are there any record shops about? im looking to buy rock/metal music on vinyl or cd...

any help would be appreciated. :)

There's a store next to Kenneth Cole in SoHo, can't think of it's name, that I think will fit the bill. Maybe someone else knows the name.

for records go to the village *soho greenich etc* record shops all over the place i like upper west for clothes we stayed 96th street and my family is into all that fashion shi sisters a designer. found some nice shops walking down broadway
