View Full Version : WNY Promo Items...Against Policy??

I guess this is for the moderators. Is it an infringement to make your own Wired New York items (t-shirt, bumper sticker, mug etc) in order to advertise the site (strictly personal use, not selling them). There are sites online where you can make DIY shirts etc.. I'd buy one, unfortunately, WNY has no official merchandise:)

What is the policy on this. I don't need WNY's legal braintrust (LondonLawyer??) showing up at my door:eek:

Below are some designs I played around with on Photoshop. I've got nothing better to do on my lunch hour.

Number two is especially good.

Maybe a light grey stencil of the city in the background would be a good highlight/accent. Not solid, one that would show "bright" windows and areas as open areas, and anything solid/dark as shadow......

You'll have to wait for Edward's response but I don't see a problem as long as:

A. You're not making these for profit.

B. It doesn't say anything disparaging such as WNY sucks.

Cool idea!

Ninja, I thought about a skyline image, and actually tried one, but it looked too much like one of the tacky shirts you see in the Manhattan tourist shops.

I guess it can be done, but it would need to have a cutting edge design to catch the vibe of the WNY site.

Who was that French (?) kid that was doing the impressionistic photo-shopping of pictures here on the site?

I think he had one of the ESB at night.

That might be the direction to start looking.

As for the silhouette, we would have to do it rather simply and in an understated manner. Something that would not look like a cheap side-of-van logo or an iron-on shirt decal.......

Comelade? Where'd he get to, anyway?

Sounds right.

The one with the odd home-made teddy bear he took on a photo-tour...

But of course you refer to Comelade and For Amede President (http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8385&highlight=amede)

Amede would be a riot.

If there is to be a design, I'd love to see what Jasonik could come up with - he has designed some nice things for the forum before.

I always thought this would make a great t-shirt...

I like this ^^^

IMHO a t-shirt that has the name across the back and with a small insignia / symbol over the heart ("wny" ?) is the best way to go

Seems like wny 2.0 issue - time for official merchandise! Personal use is welcome and encouraged! Contest for best design of logo and T-shirt, perhaps?

Michael Schvo offered $10,000 to anyone who came up with the best tag line for his logo.

Not that I'm suggesting anything.

We could use some outstanding photography from the website ...http://www.flickr.com/photos/14280558@N08/1445404937/http://www.flickr.com/photos/14280558@N08/1445404937/
