Hello everyone, it has been a while since my last Walking in NYC tour thread. So I will treat you with this one amazing walking tour of NYC. This is one of the most important neighborhood of NYC. The Financial Distrcit in Downtown Manhattan. Alot of Finacial workers come here to make big cash, and alot of them do. There are also all types of other jobs aswell, not all financial related. I really love this area because of its history, its present and its future. I was very exciting to take photos here. And I hope you get excited to see these photos aswell. Enjoy! :)

Financial District, Manhattan

The Financial District of New York City is a neighborhood on the southernmost section of the borough of Manhattan which comprises the offices and headquarters of many of the city's major financial institutions, including the New York Stock Exchange. The neighborhood was anchored by the World Trade Center until the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The neighborhood is roughly coterminous with the boundaries of the New Amsterdam settlement in the late 17th century, and has a residential population of about 30,000, during the day the population swells to about 300,000.

As a district, it encompasses roughly the area south of City Hall Park but excluding Battery Park and Battery Park City. The heart of the Financial District is often considered to be the corner of Wall Street and Broad Street, both of which are contained entirely within the district.

Great pictures KT, they give an excellent portrayal of what it is like to be walking in the FT.
This is the only part of the city that I ever lose my bearings (apart from Central park)

Excellent tour! Looked like a beautiful day to spend shuffling around the area.
I was just there, buying shirts from Century 21 and walking past the diners who were eating in the street.A few of your photos are spot on to ones that I took.I bought a book (about NYC,of course) in Borders Books(?),just around the corner from where all those folks are sitting under the red umbrellas. They have an excellent New York section.

I love the winding, twisty streets, and the way the older buildings claim attention from the new. There are some stately buildings in the neighborhood, and they are becoming more prominent as they age.A few of the streets exude power--you can feel it bleed from the stone and brass and the muscular architecture as you walk by,while others breathe history on you as you pass.

Also,a lot of the old towers are becoming residential as the working population spends their days elsewhere and millionaires line up to buy homes on a street where the sun never shines.
Wall St,populated by actual people.Who'da thunk it?
I was surprised at the sheer scope of the residential transformation, too. From West St to Old Slip, the area is going to be gaining a lot of wealthy residents, either from adaptive re-use or in brand new towers.

Fantastic photos - thank you.

I will be passing through that area in a couple of weeks - unfortunately the long range weather forecast for my time in NYC (22 - 26th September) is predicting clouds & rain....

You can't believe those long range forecasts -- they often get it wrong even 4-5 days in advance.
