I assume you know about the Hell's Kitchen and Chelsea Flea Markets, right? I've never seen anything worth visiting in the Village or Soho.

The good Soho Flea Market used to be at the parking lot where 40 Mercer (http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6054&highlight=mercer) has gone up.

Now there are none down this way.

Where exactly are these? I know the neighborhoods, but nothing about these markets. I used to find smaller venues like the mercer st. That was 30 years ago.... Thanks for any details!

What's a flea market?

Get in your car and drive around -- no doubt you'll see one before too long.

I don't notice cheap establishments.

Take off your blinders, RO -- you might learn something.

(and to think you were pretending to not know what a flea market was ... tsk, tsk ... )

Don't they teach you in the Hamptons that it's bad manners to show up in a new place unannounced and start making up stories?

Unless, of course, those stories have some entertainment value.

Making up stories? Hah.

You obviously have no clue who I am.

But you were feigning ignorance about flea markets -- and then in practically the next breath you said you "don't notice cheap establishments".

So ... if you live in such a rarified world and don't know what flea markets are then how do you know they're cheap?

Well it didn't sound like Barney's, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Prada, Hermes, YSL, etc. so one would assume it would be a place of lower-priced products.

They even have them out at the beach (http://www.hamptons.com/calendarmain.ihtml?id=6835&townflag=Westhampton&currentmonth=09)

And there's a little one on that other coast (http://losangeles.citysearch.com/profile/11540248/hollywood_ca/melrose_trading_post.html) -- which doesn't hold a candle to The Big One Out West (http://losangeles.citysearch.com/profile/141923/pasadena_ca/rose_bowl_flea_market.html)

As an ex-Angeleno (http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showpost.php?p=186176&postcount=23) perhaps you've driven by those without ever noticing

Why would I ever drive through Pasadena or that vile area of Hollywood? Also, Westhampton is so 1990s.

But thanks for being so helpful and finding me some flea markets! What a helpful New Yorker you are!

What I get from all your posts is that you seem to be trying to impress us.

RICKOWENS

Oh, please.

It's nearly impossible to impress New Yorkers. I didn't come here to impress anybody. It's not as if I mentioned my penthouse and exotic cars.

Come on now, RO, there's another tall tale you're pitching us now ^^^

You bragged about your little car (http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showpost.php?p=185227&postcount=1079) a few days ago.

(maybe you should check your meds. sometimes they can play tricks with the memory.)

Oh, that thing?

That isn't an exotic car. Just a very comfortable car for daily traffic. Out of reach to 95% of the population, yes, but an exotic car it is not.

It's nearly impossible to impress New Yorkers.I live in Manhattan and always owned a car. Never referred to the garage attendant as a valet.

Is that what you call them in Houston, honey?

Evidently Rick is not in the market for fleas!

Oh darling,

Once (if ever) one reaches my position economically, then you tend to travel from time to time for work related business to fund the glamorous lifestyle we all desire. Someone obviously hasn't read my previous postings.

c'est la vie

And ps. we call them valet in Los Angeles, and they're technically called valet in New York as well. ;)

Pretending to be something you're not is your own problem, and I could care less if you feel the need to play silly games to inflate your ego, but when you use it to answer legitimate questions - like someone on a budget looking for an apartment in Brooklyn, and being directed to one of its most expensive neighborhoods by a supposed resident - it becomes my problem.

If you want to continue to post here, you'll take this in advisement.

Or else you'll be inflating your ego somewhere else.

The actual Rick Owens moved from LA to Paris, and I seriously doubt that he would ever play at being so nouveau riche. It's pretty funny what an unsophisticated troll imagines will impress people, especially when said troll clearly has no clue what he's talking about.
