View Full Version : Weather end of March

We will be visiting New York for the first time, and I'm wondering what the weather will be like. We will be there the last 4 days of March next year. Is it still going to be very cold, and what are the chances of snow?

Thanks! :D

I was there 8th April 2005 for 4 days. Don't know if I was lucky but I came back with a sun tan. I didn't go prepared for good weather, you know shorts etc. but just had on slacks, t shirt and a loose shirt over it.
Can't say I was cold at any time. Best take a small casual jacket perhaps for evenings or if you go on a boat trip.

A few photo's from that visit to give you an idea of the weather.

Wow! - fantastic photos, thanks for posting. :)

I'm surprised to hear it was so warm, here's hoping we get lucky too - though as a person who feels the cold I will no doubt be bringing hat, coat and gloves jus for insurance! ;)

Here is a chart showing minimum and maximum temperatures.

I am sure you will have a great time whatever the weather. You are visiting one of the worlds greatest cities. It is certainly my favourite.
Need any further help, dont be afraid to ask.

brian - thanks for the link, it's good to see it should be above freezing so hopefully I will survive! ;)

New York has been on my 'to do' list for many years - I just actually started getting through my list, and visited San Francisco in August, that's a beautiful city but it was very cold when we were there. We are actually flying into New York from Orlando, a weekend break in the middle of our trip, I thought it was too good an opportunity to miss, as Jet Blue prices are very good. Hope I am a fan of New York too when we visit, I'm sure I will be! :D

Which brings to mind this remark (disputed (http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=009Ckt)) from Mark Twain:

"The coldest winer I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."

LOL, Yes Lofter1 - I'd seen that quote many times before we went and was expecting it to be chilly, but I didn't expect to be yearning for my Winter coat, hat and gloves! We had to go in August, as it was a 3 week trip and it's the only time the kids have that long off school, but next visit I would like to go in October, as I have heard the weather is great then. :D
