Hello, my parents are visiting new york from china. How should I design a tour for them? They'll be here for only 2 days. What are cheap places to stay? I heard Flushing has good cheap motels.

And what good Chinese restaurants are there?

Really depends on the area...NY is a big place. You may want to ask at Chowhound?

If they're coming from China, the first thing I'd do is guide them toward some great restaurants serving food not readily available in China.

New York City has several Chinatowns -- in Manhattan, we are big fans of XO Kitchen, which specializes in seafood and makes a particularly good eel fried rice.

Wu Liang Ye, which is in Midtown right near Rockefeller Center, is widely considered to be the best Sichuan food in the city, though they can be a little hit or miss. The steamed pork buns are always great though.

In Bay Ridge, a friend took us to Pacificana, which has such a following that it is doing great business after being closed for three years of reservations.

I don't know the Flushing Chinatown, but gothamist, a local online mag that usually has good taste, recommends Tung Yi Fung here:

Update: my husband finds a note from a Chinatown broker recommending Fuleen Seafood, which is also in Manhattan's Chinatown.
