Everybody knows that NYC is the most important city in the world and that is the " city that never sleeps ". In fact everythink in this fantastic city is 24/7:subway, buses, LIRR, PATH, SIR, SI ferry, restaurants, pharmacies etc.
In my opinion a true symbol of 24/7 living style are the delis and the groceries. I have read that also the new Second Avenue Deli will be open 24/7.
Is it true that in NYC there are more than 2000 delis/groceries and that at least 1 on 4 is open 24/7 ?
In the last years is increased or diminued the number of delis/groceries open 24/7 in NYC ? Are there statistics about this ?
Thank you for the reply.

Second Avenue Deli Reopens Off Third Avenue

December 17, 2007

The pastrami has been sliced, the liver has been chopped and the doors are now open at a new location for one of the city's legendary delicatessens.

The Second Avenue Deli reopened this morning – but not in the East Village or even on Second Avenue. The deli's new location is on 33rd Street between Lexington and Third Avenue.

All the old favorites are available, as well as a small bar, and the deli will now be open 24 hours a day.

Owner Jeremy Lebewohl says the deli is looking to delight the taste buds of old fans, as well as make some new ones.

"I definitely have some gigantic shoes to fill, but we're making sure the quality is 110 percent,” says Lebewohl. “And we're very excited to open our doors today to the rest of New York and prove to New York just how great we are."

For more than half a century, the original Second Avenue Deli was in business on East 10th Street, but a rent hike forced it to close nearly two years ago.
