I'm wondering if there any LA/OC Transplants who has made the move to New York City? Give reasons why did you make the move to NYC? And how long have you been living in New York City. Also anyone here planning to stay here for a long period of time or brief stay before making the move back to Socal or anywhere else out West. I would appreciate it if anyone who reply to my post.

for some reason i feel like Southern California people just wouldnt make it in the Northeast. (NYC, Philly, Boston, etc.)
Why Not? I'm originally from Michigan where I grew up and lived in LA for 4 years. I have been to NYC 6 times and planning to move there in July.

Actually, I do know quite a few CA transplants who have returned or are about to or are longing to return to the land of the San Andreas faultline. The longing seems to be more intense in the last 5-10 years. Only personal observation, but I myself am also feeling it for my own personal nirvana (which I couldn't wait to leave in 1994) Seattle.

sorry i realized that didnt answer any of your questions...I decided to move out here with my boyfriend since we both just graduated college. I am taking some more classes out here at FIT and want to be in New York for the fashion industry while my boyfriend is working in finance. We plan on being out here for at least a few years, but probably more. It just feels like the right place for us, at the right time, and ive always been more of a city person than a beach person.

Agreed, agreed, agreed. I'm seeing a lot of friends wanting to return to their hometowns.
Pricedout, I also left Washington (Southwest, not Seattle) in 1994. I don't want to return there at this point, but I'm feeling the urge to go somewhere else.
