one thing I have noticed on this fab forum is there is not a section for general day to day chit chat.

I am a member of another forum and they have a section like this which is really successful, so I am going to start one off! it may work or may die of death! :D

well off work today, just go up (rather late) got my ususal mundane washing to do, homework with the boys and mum is coming for a visit.

Paul my husband is a painter and decorator and he has to work today so we can save up for our next holiday in Turkey this August (wish it was for New York) :(

My boys at this moment are playing on a new game we got them (army of two) for the xbox live!

what you got planned today?

Looks like a day in front of the TV for me.

Been up most of the night to watch Formula 1 practice from Australia.

Watching Rugby and Soccer this afternoon, then up all night to watch the Formula 1 race.

I don't know where I get the energy from.

Weather is crap at the moment.

*yawn* just woke up. :p

The weather here is currently 30º and cloudy! Yuck! I want sun..

This evening I will be putting on a Spring Play (for my high school) with about 15 other people. It's a really funny play and tonight will be the last time I'll ever perform on the stage, sooo... :)

Until I need to leave for the play ... I'm going to be lazy and probably stay home. :P

March 15th, 2008, 12:40 PM
Finished night shifts on friday morning so woke up (very) late today...12.30... takes a day or two to get back to normal (back on days on monday).

Got showered and dressed; tided up my flat and put the rubbish out.

Caught the train into central London (15 minute journey). Had a coffee and watched the world go by for an hour, and came to an internet cafe to check my emails.

When i finish here i'm off for another coffee, then to buy a couple of DVD's and back home for an evening in front of the TV. My friends are all busy today so i'm not having a very social weekend:(

Weathers OK, a bit cloudy but dry and warm enough not to wear a coat - summer is coming!!! (or at least not as far off as it was).

So Benniest, whats the play about?

The Benniest
March 15th, 2008, 01:35 PM
The play is called "Rest Assured" and is pretty funny. We opened last night and the crowd seemed to really enjoy it.

It revolves around a man who is to involved in his work to care about anything ... including his family. As the play goes on, he realizes that he is dead and that no one really cares, again, including his family. The only people that CAN see him are 4 people (including my character ... the devil).

I won't give away the ending. Who knows, you may actually see it someday. ;)

turkishann
March 15th, 2008, 01:44 PM

The Benniest

The Benniest
March 15th, 2008, 03:36 PM
Thanks. What I meant to say was that it's my last time on stage as a "high schooler."

I'm a senior right now and have close to a month left until I graduate. :D

turkishann
March 15th, 2008, 03:40 PM

The Benniest
March 15th, 2008, 03:46 PM
Yea, I'm 18. Will be 19 on Jan. 5, 2009.

turkishann
March 15th, 2008, 03:55 PM
you lucky thing wish I was 18 again :o

so do you think we will see you on the big screen in a few year ;)

The Benniest
March 15th, 2008, 07:45 PM
Dunno about that. :P

I want to go into Graphic Design/Photography in college, but would really like to still be involved in acting and the theater. I guess we'll see what happens throughout college.

Maybe I'll change my major to acting/theater and be on the screens like you say. :D

I wanted to do graphic design but realised it after my children came along!

I do love my job (school administrator) and it suits because I get all the holidays with my children,

ah but I do have the best job in the world, being a mum! :D would not change it for anything!

well homework to do with the boys today, roast sunday dinner to prepare and uniforms to get ready for school. Only 4 days in this week as I finish on Thursday for just over a week for easter!

Still chilly here in NYC...bbrrrrrrr...I have taken my whool wrap out to wear instead of a winter coat but I may have to resort back to the jacket. :(
As for my socializing schedule....work at 8am until 7pm....I ran an ad in the Staten Island Advance stating that I will be hosting a customer appreciation night here in the showroom today from 4pm-7pm with wine and cheese and am suspected that no one will show and I will be buzzed by 6:00pm. Then off to meet the boyfriend at a new restaurant by the ferry called Besos(awesome food)...going to have a few cocktails with his fellow teachers from the high school since there is no school/work tomorrow. My son is with his dad until Tuesday soooooo...I am also trying to get my Psychopathology paper done along with my Italian assignments.

well, It's functional and I'm making some encouraging first sales (45 as of this morning) but I haven't started promoting it earnestly yet since it is not up to par in terms of navigability.

I have designs up, such as t-shirts, mugs, mousepads, etc, but the designs and pages aren't merchandised and organized properly yet, so I haven't done any advertising or promotion at this point.

In order to speed the process I now have Dreamweaver so I'm getting acquainted with it and hopefully things will be in order shortly. The problem is, it's a side project that I hope will become my main business one day, but right now I have to do bread-and-butter projects to keep the bills paid.:(
So, it's not getting nearly enough love and attention at the moment, but I'm in it for the long haul.:)

Just as we expected here, it rained much of the day today. This morning I had to make a trip to a high school track meet and snap some pictures of the senior guys who were taking part and running today ... it rained the whole time.

Now, it's 8:10 pm and it's still raining around around 52 degrees.

April showers bring May showers? :(

Pictures of my neighborhood today: (cold, dark, and rainy :p)

Nice pictures Ann. :) Glad you had a good time celebrating birthdays.

Today was excellent! One of the happiest days for me in a long time. I finished my final high school testing before graduation!! :D :D :D

Tomorrow is my last day and I will be graduating from high school on Sunday around ~ 2 p.m.

Oh, and it was a really nice day today. ;)

Ugh. We have more rain tonight. It's summer, I'll take rain thank you very much. :p And, on a sadder note, when I looked at our forecast on Google, I see this:

Now I'm quite worried...

The Benniest
June 6th, 2008, 12:45 PM
Wow. Now I'm jealous. You can send that nice weather to the west. :)

Well...this morning when I looked outside, it looked like a tornado had gone through my town. Parts of trees were ripped/blown off, the football field across the street is flooded, and down the street, one tree destroyed the side of a house.

That sounds awful. Are such intense storms typical for this time of year where you live?

The Benniest
June 6th, 2008, 02:35 PM
Ironically, no. Last year was beautiful weather, beach every other day, and when we weren't at the beach, we were almost always outside.

This year is definitely different.

I live in Northwest Iowa in a small town.
There are beaches in Iowa now?
Well...we have lakes here and that is where we do most of our beach-doing. Lake Okoboji (http://www.okoboji.com/) is a major hot-spot for boating, tubing, and 'tanning.' :)

I'm going out now to take some post-pictures of last nights ... err, events? I will post them a little later.

I'm really not looking forward to the very hot temps this weekend. 80's are hot and fine, but 90's are miserable.

Ben, the Earthcam in Times Square shows a current (1.00pm) temprature of 91 degrees with a feels like reading of 104.1 degrees.

For July I think you will need a light clothes, a large hat, sunglasses and plenty of cash for bottled water.

I was at the Yanks-Royals game today. I sat in the last row upper deck behind home plate in shade of the over hang. It was so hot that people applauded loudly when a the first cloud came by to cover the stadium in shadow. Very hot today but enjoyed the game unfortunately we lost.

Ben, the Earthcam in Times Square shows a current (1.00pm) temprature of 91 degrees with a feels like reading of 104.1 degrees.Don't go by the temperature shown on Earthcam Times Square. They use readings from JFK, which is by the water and is not indicative of the true temperature in the city.

I know, it doesn't make sense but that's how the folks over at Earthcam set it up.

For a truer gage of the temperature in the city, use Earthcam-Columbus Circle (http://www.earthcam.com/usa/newyork/columbuscircle/). The readings there are taken from Central Park, which is generally accepted as the official weather station for the city. ;)

Better yet, use the NOAA (http://forecast.weather.gov/obslocal.php?warnzone=NYZ072&local_place=New+York+NY&zoneid=EDT&offset=14400) site (the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) for the latest, most reliable temperature readings for a few select locations throughout the city.

The flooding here in Iowa is still continuing ... unfortunately. It is mostly happening in the southern portions of the state (Ankeny, Des Moines, Saylorville), so where I live is not getting hit, at least as bad.

There are live press conferences going on now as I type this and from the live footage they are showing viewers from news helicopters, it's horrible. Nearly all of downtown Des Moines (the capital) is covered in knee-high water with a lot of the manholes overflowing. A lot of the questions during the press conference regarded whether or not officials would issue an evacuation, due to that more rain is expected for tonight. And of course, their answers were ... we don't know. I'm praying for this to end! :(

A lot of the locals (even "upstate" where I live) are getting flashbacks of the 1993 flooding of Des Moines (http://www.igsb.uiowa.edu/browse/flood93/flood93.htm).
