Or maybe he said "the hell with it all" and is hiding out at Punzie's.

Maybe he's pillaging and plundering with cap'n birdseye, or hopefully something equally adventuresome.

He wasn't too happy with where the Kaufman thread went, but certainly that didn't drive him away, did it? He's a good guy but I find it impossible to agree with his pro-Kaufman stuff or his anti-Islam stuff.
Ah well, he's probably just on vacation, strolling through Dubrovnik or something.

He's seems fairly whimsical, I wouldn't worry about him.

Unfortunately, someone over at the ArchBoston forum discovered and posted a link to his architectural practice's website back in late February, and things didn't go over too well.

By the time I found out any of it happened the discussion had long been deleted, so I have no firsthand knowledge of what exactly went down. But he's been absent from the board ever since..

No actual privacy or secrets on the web if someone really wants to dig around

That ArchBoston thread is a bit frenetic.

There are a number of reasons why ablarc has not posted recently that don't warrant digging around into his personal life.

^Ditto what he said.

He is a good contributor here and part of the community. His post in the Kaufman thread offering a glimpse inside the the thinking behind low-end hotel architecture was one of his best.

Unless someone chooses to use their real name as their user name, I think it is beyond obnoxious for anyone else to reveal their identity.

I hope he is doing well and returns to the forum.

While I dont always agree with him he does instigate good discourse and hopefully he will return.

Ablarc is the king of WNY's non-Mods.

Seems we now find ourselves "Waiting for Ablarc"

No kidding!!

Rude SOBs

I, for one, think his posts would make an interesting book/pamphlet.

Now Fabrizio's gone too.

Temporarily, and just in time for Spring cleaning.

I, for one, think his posts would make an interesting book/pamphlet.

Unless, I missed something, I don't believe his identity was ever displayed. Just his firm's name and contact info for the firm.

Still, it shouldn't have been posted and was thankfully yanked pretty quickly.

I made the same mistake once as well, so it is actually the second time it's has happened to him.

I fear it may have been the straw that broke the camels back.

I'm still holding out hope he is on an extended tour of Europe or working on a book. Or both.

Keep your fingers crossed.

He never averted us of any long trip and it seems like the last posts before his disappearance were somewhat tumultuous.Which lead me to believe that he is avoiding the forum(s). If someone did in fact post his info up W/O his consent it is really uncalled for and that person should have been banned from the forum.

It is a real shame that it came to this. It is pretty unfair that we should all pay the price for the mistake of a couple of people but stuff like that happens all the time. He was having some very intense debates with some folks in the Kaufman page (which turned out to be some of his best posts) and even then I saw that he got hit below the belt on an occasion. I mean yeah after a while it takes a toll but when stuff like that happens to me it only makes my skin thicker.

Hopefully, he can get over it and come back and enthrall us with his stories, photo essays, architect's prespective, historical facts and architectural tidbits. This is all speculation of course, maybe it wasnt that-who knows. I can see how it was hard on him having some of these discusions being an architect and all, but I hope that he realizes that the scope of his contributions to the forum in terms of educating us about something we are not experts in is greater than the occasional disagreement or verbal jab. Hopefully he has not gone Vegineer on us, for that was one of the most characterless/pathetic things that I have ever seen in forums. But I know Ablarc is better than that....in fact, way better.

I look forward to your return Ablarc. :)

There may be need of a Samuel Beckett type for WNY some day, but not yet for those who have been missed of late. A retreat and respite, a word of undelight, and they go and reappear, and remain dear.

Nothing to be done.
I'm beginning to come round to that opinion. All my life I've tried to put it from me, saying be reasonable, you haven't yet tried everything. And I resumed the struggle.
And they didn't beat you?
Beat me? Certainly they beat me.
We were respectable in those days. Now it's too late.
Boots must be taken off every day, I'm tired of telling you that. Why don't you listen to me?

Nothing to be done.
Nothing.
There's nothing to show.
One of the thieves was saved. It's a reasonable percentage.
Suppose we repented.
One daren't even laugh any more.
I'm going.
People are bloody ignorant apes.
Let's go.
You're sure it was here?
That we were to wait.
He said by the tree.
Where are the leaves?
It must be dead.
No more weeping.
If he came yesterday and we weren't here you may be sure he won't come again today.

We wait. We are bored. No, don't protest, we are bored to death, there's no denying it. Good. A diversion comes along and what do we do? We let it go to waste. . . In an instant all will vanish and we'll be alone once more, in the midst of nothingness!

Let us not waste our time in idle discourse!

That's beautiful. And then I love it when the waiters start singing:

You're lookin swell, Dolly
I can tell, Dolly
You're still glowin...youre still crowin'...youre still goin' strong.

So...golly, gee, fellas....find her an empty knee, fellas
Dolly'll never go away....I said she'll never go away
Dolly' ll never go away again!

The diversion has come.

Welcome back, even if it is the wrong thread :).

Dolly is cheery, Valdimir is dreery, and Godot ... simply never arrives.
