Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum and soon enough i'll be new to NYC when I marry my american fioncee and move to Queens.

Because she's an apprentice electrician with the union in NYC she's entitled to a cheap apartment at Electchester near Fresh Meadows in Queens. I just wanted some peoples opinions and info about the area cause at the moment we don't know alot at all, is it relatively safe? good bars and places to eat? easy access to Manhattan?

Thanks alot

but it looks to be about 20 blocks from the #7 and F trains, looking at the map. Plus there are buses that run closer.

Welcome, to queens. The area is nice but you will definitely need a car. There are great places to eat and hang but queens, especially out by fresh meadows, flushing and areas further from manhattan don't have the best public transportation. But as long as you have a car it's great. Hope that helps.
