Why when I edit a post do i have to click 'vote now' to post my edited post?

You hit 'Save'.

'Vote Now' sounds like a poll is involved.

I have the same glitch. It's just a bug in the forum's software.

In a related question, how long has one got to edit a post without having it come up as edited, one minute, 30 sec.?

I'm not sure if it's a matter of time, but I notice the 'edit' footnote doesn't show up if I have not left the page yet and I decide to change something.

I find that it does not indicate that it has been edited, if you have not yet posted anything following that post.

Luckily I haven't come up against that "vote" bug.

Regarding Edits: In my experience it seems you have ~ 5 minutes. I edit alot. And re-write. I hate it when I don't get it done within the deadline before that "Edited" message shows up  .

(To beat that ^ and if I'm feeling really compulsive & I get the "Edited" message I will sometimes copy the entire re-written post, then delete the whole post and make a new reply by pasting the previous post :o .)

Not sure that the deleted posts count towards the Total Posts.

But if so ... Game's On!

[PAUSE]

No, they don't

I just deleted this post and my count dropped by one.

I'm assuming when I (re)-submit this post it will notch up by one.

[PAUSE]

Yes it did.

Phantom posts are a phigment of NH's imagination.

^Too funny. You are the expert.

Agreed, you have about 4-5 minutes to edit your post before the Edit footnote arrives - whether you leave the page or not.

I was unaware of the Vote Now glitch.

Hmm, I wonder if they drop with OLD posts too.....

I would experiment myself, but I do not think there is a single meaningless post I could experiment with without forever losing somethnig special!!!! ;)

Maybe I should mess with Lofter's head, and undelete his deleted posts.

^ An online sort of gaslighting.. hilarious! Next someone would have to go to his home and turn down the brightness and contrast on his monitor, and maybe change his default font :p

Ditto to everything just said. I do almost all my editing after I've hit the "post reply" button because I need to see how it all looks on the screen everyone else'll be viewing to do my best proofreading.

Absolutely brilliant. I can't believe I didn't think this up on my own.

An online sort of gaslighting.. hilarious!

A former cat-loving Moderator used to do something of that sort. I got more than one chatty PM talking about my editing habits. And describing things I'd changed or deleted.

Leave it to ZtC to dredge them up and torment me with them.

I beg of you: Please, don't! I've put it all behind me. And it was really creepy.

We used to post about things in the outside world that interested us.

We now post about posting.

What's the difference between Don Corleone and a postmodernist?

Offer you can't refuse v. refuse you can't offer?

Good, also

Offer you can't refuse v. offer you can't understand.

I think my first inclination may have been more true in spirit.

What's the difference? [end]

Did you ever notice how almost every thread on a website goes OT after a few posts?
