No wonder she is IMHO the best first lady America ever had...

"Ugliness is so grim," Lady Bird Johnson once said. "A little beauty, something that is lovely, I think, can help create harmony which will lessen tensions."

"That belief -- that beauty can improve the mental health of a society -- and her determination to make the United States a more beautiful place became Lady Bird's true legacy. "

Would the young people here please read this: http://www.pbs.org/ladybird/shattereddreams/shattereddreams_report.html

Do you really want a new Anything Goes topic on former First Ladies? I suppose I can arrange something... although Hillary Clinton stays in 'Presidential Candidates'.;):D

I don't see a need for a thread for former first ladies -- Better that they just pop up in conversation on various threads here and there.

But has a former first lady ever done LESS publicly after she left the White House than Big Barbara Bush? I guess she's too busy putting into effect the New World Order (http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showpost.php?p=172257&postcount=3) run by the Bush Boys (http://chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headline/metro/3742329.html)

And who knew Babs was a native of New York City (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_Bush)

Not giving her a new thread ^^^ just want to acknowledge that Lady Bird Johnson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Bird_Johnson) passed away today at age 94 ...

Maybe we should just have an all-new "DEAD PEOPLE" thread

Right now the wny graveyard is rather unorganized ...

A search of "Dead (http://wirednewyork.com/forum/search.php?searchid=617989)" shows ~ 8 separate existing threads for those who have died.

A search of "Dies (http://wirednewyork.com/forum/search.php?searchid=618006)" turns up an additional 10 threads.

A search of "Obituary (http://wirednewyork.com/forum/search.php?searchid=618018)" turned up only one thread.

Most of those ^^^ have < 10 replies. Many have only 1.

All on its own is the Pat Buckley (http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13464&highlight=buckley) thread.

Not sure how many other dead folks are just floating around out there waitng for someone to look them up.

Maybe we should combine all the "pets" threads out there with the "cats" and "dogs" threads and headline them under "domesticated animals."

We can start a sub-forum under "social club".

In April I started a thread:
"Notable Obituaries/Passings" - Suggestion for Sub-Forum (http://www.wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13232)

In this post (in the thread ) I put links to all the obituaries as of that date:
http://www.wirednewyork.com/forum/showpost.php?p=157740&postcount=5

After a few people put off the idea, I (somewhat fortuitously, as it turns out) posted:

Hypothetical question to the 3 members (above) who opposed my suggestion:

If a highly-esteemed member such as Lofter1 had proposed it, would you have taken it seriously?
The thread ended inconclusively with my asking you (Lofter) your opinion, but at the time you were indisposed and absent.:(

Aha -- Thanks for the tip ...

Another case of my failure to properly search the forum :o
