Rally Against MTA Fare Hikes and Service Cuts

Unless the State Legislature acts, June 1st will bring crushing service cuts to our subways and busses and a 25% increase in fares. With the help of the Facebook Group, 1,000,000 People Against the MTA Fare Hike, we are holding an important rally at Union Square tomorrow. This rally will be the real life meet up of hundreds of online activists who will show the State Legislature that inaction is not an option.

Please join the Facebook group today, RSVP for the event (http://www.tinyurl.com/MTArally), and invite your friends!

RALLY AGAINST FARE HIKES AND SERVICE CUTS!

TUESDAY, APRIL 28, 2009
UNION SQUARE
SOUTH PLAZA
5:30pm - 7:30pm

We will be making hundreds of phone calls on the spot to Albany and signing a giant "NY State Senate Facebook Wall" to be hand-delivered to hold-outs who are blocking a deal. If you'd like to volunteer at the rally, please email Lindsey Lusher Shute at lindsey@transalt.org.

Sponsored by:

1,000,000 People Against the NYC MTA Fare Hike (Facebook group); Transportation Alternatives; NYPIRG Straphangers Campaign; Working Families Party; Keep New York Moving

Why don't these folks rally against the NY State Assemblymen who are responsible for these fare hikes and service cuts? The MTA is not the main problem; it's Albany.

We should all go to Cark Krueger's office with pitchforks. This idiot (and the rest of the Gang of Four) are 100% responsible if a bailout fails.

It looks to me like the rally is against Albany.
