No activity all year. This should be the first to overtake 111 Lawrence as Bk's tallest building.

All four of Brooklyn's tallest buildings will be 2 blocks from each other.

The Brooklyner 514'
388 Bridge Street 528'
Avalon Willoughby Square 596'
Center @ Albee Square ~650'

Hopefully within 5 years we'll be able to discuss Miss Brooklyn and a tower at the NYC Tech site again.

To have 4 new tallest buildings in just a few short years, that's impressive.

The permits seem to indicate construction has started on this. Maybe I'll check it out tomorrow.
It also got a height increase -now 55 stories, 575 feet. It should be very prominent in the skyline and will be the tallest in Brooklyn until Avalon Willoughby (596') is built.

I wish. The site hasn't seen any action in over a year. Delay is due to environmental cleanup squabbling. Dry cleaning chemicals are the issue says the chatter. If i was a betting man I'd say that we see the Avalon tower go up across the street before this site sprouts. It'll be the sequel to Brooklyner vs. Avalon Fort Greene. Always bet on AVB.

Site is quite dead (despite new permits posted on it). More interesting is the serious demo going on a block away for some more Fulton St. reconstruction. I meant to check the permits and see what's what there, but haven't had a chance. I have photos of all this stuff from the other day. I should be able to post soonish.

Talk about not selling out to the man. I can see the 29 Flatbush crane from my office, and I suspect I'll be able to see this one soon too. Has demo started for Avalon Willoughby? There's what, a half dozen towers, all about the tallest for the borough, U/C in Brooklyn right now? This, 29 Flatbush, Oro 2, The Hub? Quite the boom.

Tectonic

Nothing yet Avalon Willoughby. Is suspect that will be a fast pace project once they start.
Atlantic Yards missing out on this boom too, they are really slow.

Demo permits have been issued for avalon Willy. once the fences go up it's on SON. avalon has been otherwise engaged recently buying archstone. AVB is no joke.

This guy is big and glassy. It's getting really obvious from the office here. I need to take a pic in the evening when the lighting to see it is better. How much taller than the Brooklyner is this going to be? I think it's only a floor or two, no?

This will be nearly 100 ft. taller than the Brooklyner.

I count at least five buildings taller than the Brooklyner currently rising or about to rise in downtown Brooklyn.

RoldanTTLB
April 10th, 2013, 11:34 PM
DOB says 575 for this vs. 515 (512?) for Brooklyner. So maybe 5-6 floors. That'll be noticeable enough, I suppose. I'll try to get a pic Friday evening. I don't think I'll be in the office tomorrow afternoon. I know the Avalon is supposed to be even taller than this. Is the Hub supposed to be taller? I guess DOB shows 563 as the height for it. The third city point tower should be taller. What are the other two? Inquiring minds want to know! When will BKLN get a 700 footer?

Here's a shot of the building from my vantage point. Reminds me quite a bit of the glass towers in Vancouver.

The exposed floor plates are visually 'dropping out' in the solid surface sections of the facade: then 'scream out' on the all glass curtain wall sections: but they actually look ok - another 'nice looking enough' building. I easy to please; also easily amused.....HeHe

For a 'basic' tower, it looks a lot better than Brooklyner and Avalon FG. Avalon Willoughby will rise in the foreground of the last picture. It should be well out of the ground by next winter, Avalon does not waste time.

With the construction of this tower and the one on Flatbush, Brooklyn highrises seem to have turned the corner away from hideousness towards acceptable mediocrity. Citypoint should look decent though.

Only partially. I mean, it's my favorite color, and I think it would be awesomely distinctive. On the other hand, I suppose lots of people would get angry about it. The building is a great color blue for orange accents, though. And I mean like this color too:
