From correspondents in Los Angeles August 07, 2009 07:54am

JOHN Hughes, best known for writing and directing a string of 1980s hit movies including The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller's Day Off, has died, his publicist said today.
He was 59.
Hughes suffered a heart attack while visiting his family in Manhattan, his Los Angeles-based representatives said.
A prolific screenwriter and director, Hughes was the creative inspiration behind a series of teen-oriented films throughout the 1980s before penning the screenplay for the smash 1990 Macaulay Culkin film Home Alone.

Judging from his pic above, he looked very young for 59.

My 2 favorites were Home Alone 1 & 2! :)

That picture is 20 years old.

He kept out of the public eye for the past two decades.

Yeah, I can see the difference now. He was bigger as well. :(

It was such a shock to me.

How many of you remember "Crocodile Tears"?
