A fantastic actress of great complexity. Here she is -- all at once tough as nails, hot as hell, colder than ice and as sick as they come ...

A real class act.

Here we have a woman on a rock, a man with a drill and lots of dripping sweat ...

I remember her very well in The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Her most unforgettable line was "Klato Nicto Varada" or something like that.

Her mission was to try to get the robot to go to the hospital (or was it the jail?) and rescue Mr. Carpenter after he was stopped and shot by the police. But the robot grabs her first and puts her into the spaceship until he brings Mr. Carpenter back.

She played the mom of a little boy, Bobby, who was quite fastinated and intrigued in awe by Mr. Carpenter (Michael Rennie who also, years later, guest-starred in 2 episodes of Lost in Space).

She'll be missed by all!

It's still one of my favorite '50s old sci-fi black & white flicks, and like fine wine, it gets better & better. As a matter of fact, I watched it again not too long ago on DVD.

I remember the officals had the robot encased and seal in a thick tough plastic shield. Said that it was harder than steel and that he would not be able to get out of it. He broke out of that like it was nothing!

Haven't seen the remake yet, which co-stars Will Smith's son, Jaden.
