I figured the good folks here at the NY forum would like to know about this undertaking.
The people at 3dny are about to start something called The Manhattan Project.
They are putting together a communal effort to model Manhattan (digitally).

They are looking for people to be information gatherers/3D modelers or both.
The type of info that is helpful would be photos (aerial and otherwise), architects drawings/renderings.

Looks like I'm going to be Mr. Job Captain overseeing the flow of information and assigning modeling duties.

The model will be created by the community and available to all those who participate.

Anyone interested should visit:

and click the Manhattan Project link at the top of the page.
Or contact me at rigrij@mac.com

You may remember my NY model from such images as

The new model will go into more detail than I have done here.

It looks like most of the work is already done, except for the window pattern for each of these "blanks"

Interesting model there, Rich. *I take it that the tall, slender blue building was some sort of neverbuilt proposal near Citicorp?

Yeah Tloz you could say that....It is however the brainchild of Rich. He had us fooled over at skyscraper page.
