Construction of two new buildings for NYU has diverted pedestrians away from the construction zone on West 3rd St. for about a year, but both are coming close to completion.

The new 9 story academic building is for NYU Law School. The roof has now been added to the steel frame.

Go here (http://www.law.nyu.edu/magazines/autumn02/LSMGBLDG03.pdf) for more about this building.

The Kimmel Center, designed by Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo Associates, has just been completed. It is 12 stories, has a two story glass atrium on top, and is located on Washington Square Park South.

Nice glass treatment around the stairwells - at night lit up.

Judson Memorial Church - McKim Mead and White 1888-1893 with its 165 foot high campanile tower by Stanford White. The Law School building behind it.

From the park, the new Kimmel Center and Law School building under construction. As a community facility, the Kimmel Center is 85% larger than a private residential development could be on the same site (NY Times). Probably true for the Law School building too.
