A modernist (glass) addition to an early postwar (stone) base. The combined 21 storey boutique office building starts construction offering views at a prime location.

It's kind of a tiny addition, don't you think?

Any renderings?

Wow, I thought this building was just a stump, but it did have an upper portion:

What's the reddish tower behind it with the banded windows?

I like it. *I appreciate the traditional base (and prefer that on the more formal Fifth Ave). *Yet that the avenue *is surprisingly devoid of glass as opposed to, say, Park or Sixth Avenues. *

The only way I know this is that I have this nifty map of the city that has building plots marked up with addresses. So I found 640 and looked at the plot just north of it, 650. Then skyscrapers.com's search does the rest.

I just happened across this map in my book shelf, does anyone know of an online source of such a map?

Thanks, tugrul. *BTW, that second pic you posted isn't showing up for me--at least not on this computer. *I know it's some kinda rendering of the new tower, but still...

Heh, I had originally saved it as a png (http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/)... put up a jpg now, should work.

An entire tower clad like that would be pretty nice, too.

Especially if it were several stories taller.

Hate to be the first post in eight years... but I like this addition. The glass is sharp.
