I really hate the top.
If I remember correctly, it appears in The fugitive with Harrison Ford.

More Middle-Eastern style than Spanish. *Very interesting, though. *Architects explored all kinds of non-European and medieval influences in the 20's.

I'd say it's more Moorish-styled than generally Middle Eastern. *So it somewhat counts as Spanish Revival.

I'd say Moorish too, but the frieze is so distinctly Mesopotamian. *No need to peg it in any one style, either. *Like I said, they experimented with all kinds of influences in the twenties, from Babylonian to Mayan to Byzantine.

The buildings around it look pretty cool, too, especially the tower with the flying buttresses on top--a real showstopper.

That's the Tribune building on *the right and the Wrigley on the left -- there's a thread for the Wrigley here (http://www.wirednewyork.com/forum/topic.cgi?forum=6&topic=48). *The Tribune building is also from 1922 and was designed by Raymond Hood, who did the American Radiator Building, McGraw-Hill Building, Daily News Building, and worked on *Rockefeller Center. *It was the building that really launched his career -- he won an international competition for the design.

He was inspired by the Rouen cathedral.
Dozens of stones from famous monuments all around the world are included in the wall and visible from the street level.
