The WTC Twin Towers were only the first of a whole set of other WTC's constructed in many other cities worldwide. Some are skyscrapers, some are flat, but all these structures are dedicated to promoting business, trade, and all types of business conferences as a means to promote global peace and harmony through the trade of both goods and ideas. They all fall under the umbrella of the WTCA, which was founded in 1970 while the Twins were still rising (Coincidence? ;))

Their umbrella site is at http://iserve.wtca.org/. I have only a few pictures of the WTC's worldwide, but these are good:

That's a reolving restaurant, much like the one revolving on top of the Marriot Marquis. I heard rumors that another restaurant is on top of the WTC tower in Seoul, although it's not certain.

I heard that its current president Guy Tozzoli, would like to get the Twin Towers back, and is obviously not happy about the current Libeskind renderings. Regardless, even if they're not rebuilt, the WTC legacy, including the WTCA, is there and will stay with us for many years to come.

Thanks for the pictures, and keep them coming. People need to see more of these pictures to get a good idea of what the WTC in Lower Manhattan should look like. They should be tall, imposing, and distinctive, not banal or defeatist-looking. None of these buildings are mediocre as far as I know, and that's whats makes them impressive and attractive to business. We should all hope that people realize what they're missing from Lower Manhattan.

The Merchandise Mart in Chicago is the city's official World Trade Center. I could not find a nice picture of it. It is undoubtedly and impressive structure, beautiful, and full of life during the normal business day.

Having been to it, some cases three times a day, and the WTC on Manhattan, they were very similar whan it came to their urbanity.

...and it is huge. It has a little over 4 million square feet of space. It is two blocks long by one wide and puntuated by courtyards at its center.

The inside has a longitudinal arcade with marble and very intricate detailing. On the river side, where you can see the huge portal, there is a two-story lobby with huge windows facing the plaza and river.

The space is mostly devoted to interior design, furnishings, showrooms, etc, but the public portions are always lively during the workweek. It has a food court, post office, stores, and a huge plasma tv that people typically congregate around during lunch time.

I love that place.
