I came across this on the internet and found it to be quite beautiful considering it's in an agriculture state like Iowa. *It's not massive, but some pretty nice buildings. *What do you guys think?

Sorry, I don't know how to post a picture. *But I'd like to learn. *Anyone who wants to tell me would be much appreciated. *But don't worry about it. *

It's nice. *Kinda reminds me of Cincinnati, actually. *But this thread would be better suited for Beyond the City.

Wow. I didn't know that Des Moines had such a nice skyline. I didn't even think that it was such a nice little city. In the Mid-West the cities I know of are Chicago, St.Louis, Cincinatti, and Detroit. Beyond that I din't rally think there were othere cities.

I always thought that Des Moines was Quite cute 'petite' but when I first saw it I was shocked. I didnt expect it to look like that, I had read Bill Brysons book 'the lost continent' and he describes it as he thinks it is, but it was a shock when I realised that it had high rise!

Saint Louis is getting better, from what I've heard. The skyline, though definitely not on par with NYC, is charming, and the Arch is incredible. Still better than Buffalo or many other cities.

Lots of previously stagnating American cities are currently on some semblance of an upswing, even total nadirs like Detroit. People are investing more in the inner cities, apartments are being built or converted in downtowns, and crime overall has dropped substantially in the past decade.
