I had business in Long Island City on Sept 10. I went there early in the morning to get some shots of Manhattan, and I'm glad I did.

Later I took some photos around the neighborhood. All 48 photos are here (http://www.pbase.com/zippythechimp/long_island_city&page=1).
3 - 10: Mahattan from Gantry Park
13 - 15: Manhattan from Queensbridge Park.
16 - 21: Industrial park area, but industrial shops are located throughout the area, on residential streets.
22: Several of these along the el.
23: The facade is a little dissapointing up close, but there are good views from all over the low-rise neighborhood.
24: Across from Citicorp is County Square, and the courthouse. Sorry about the streak. There were court officers and other men in black all over the place, making it difficult to take photos. The morning sun was low, and I shot this from the hip. Too bad- the neo renaissance building is quite nice.
25, 26: Fountain in the square.
35, 36: The chemical plant is huge, just south of Queens West, and except for broken windows, the exterior is in great shape.
39, 40: Some retail near the development has gone upscale...
but most of Vernon is like 41. Zippy had a few beers with Hunters Point locals.
42 - 46: There is a landmarked street here. Even this one has an industrial shop near the corner.
There's a lot more here.
