I live in Hong Kong but I'm originally from The Philippines. I just wanna say that Manila's skyline ain't that bad. It may not be as great as Hong Kong or New York but is still acceptable by international standards. I'm talking about Metro Manila including it's cities and districts.

I was reading people's comments why Manila is no.10 (currently) on the World's Best Skylines, beating major cities noted for it's skyline (Toronto, Los Angeles, Sydney and Frankfurt). I think Manila has the potential to be a major skyscraper city. There are already alot of high-rise apartments and office towers sprouting around the area and there are also developments of central business districts. The only thing is that, it's skyline is not as widely publicized compared to other cities.

Yeah, I agree. Unluckily I'd say that about many Latin American countries with the same potential.

Latin American cities that I know with great skylines are Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Panama City and Caracas. But most of their skyscrapers are not as tall as the Asian ones except I heard of a 700+ ft skyscraper built in Mexico City. I don't know any developments in Latin American cities probably the reason is we don't hear much news in that part of town or we do not pay too much attention to it. There are hardly any hispanics in Hong Kong although there is a sizable one in Manila so we don't get too much news there!

Anyway, here in Asia, Manila lacks the media attention, unless a photographer can take panoramic shots of the city. When people talk about Skyscrapers in Asia, the cities on their mind might be Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Singapore.

There is also alot of developments here from new business districts to satelite cities like Filinvest Corporate City, Fort Bonifacio, Eastwood City and many more. Also, there is suppose to be a tower over 1000 ft built at Rockwell Center in Makati called Lopez Center, but is still in construction. If development continues I think Manila can reach a higher ranking in the world's best skyline!

By the way, I think Latin American women are the prettiest women in the world! That's why they become runners up in Miss Universe or Miss World!

:o Your from Hong Kong. That's a nice city.
Well I think that Manila has a lot of potential. I've looked around in Skyscrapers.com and most of the buildings coming in Manila look great.

There are a few Manila skyscrapers that I like and the GT Tower is one of them. Most Manila skyscrapers are reinforced concrete or glass/steel. Currently, there are several developments and new towers being built around Manila. Some of them will be over 1000 ft like the Lopez Center in Rockwell CBD.

But I don't think Manila will reach the level of Hong Kong, New York or even Chicago. But if all the developments finish, I think Manila can be in no. 5.

Yes I live in Hong Kong but I'm still be Filipino! Well I think you also have that feeling as well! You're from New York but you're still proud Dominican!

I totally agree with you. Hong Kong has a skyline that rivals New York City's skyline. It would be very hard for another Asian city to surpass Hong Kong.

Is there a reason the same pics have been posted in three almost identical threads.
