World tower in sydney is almost complete, its a huge complicated building around 75 floors. Its all residential and i think that theres a hotel as well. I was in sydney not long ago and in real life its a MONSTER! well, compared with the surrounding buildings.

Its a fantastic tower. I've been lucky enough to watch it rise over the past 2 years. I believe it is all residential with retail in the base - no hotel.

Here's a recent shot from Culwalla over at SkyskraperCity.

It is indeed an impressive tower and the 200m+ office tower going next to it isn't bad either, the two look like they will compliment each other well. Here's a couple more photos of them both.

However this is the real one to watch in Aus at the moment, the mighty Eureka tower in Melbourne. This recent photo shows the core at around 500ft which is halfway to its final height of 297m. At 91 floors this building is a monster and is the tallest building under construction outside of Asia at this time.

The density of Sydney is truly impressive; not a parking lot to be seen. Parking lots are the absence of the city. Unfortunately, even New York has them.

Great shots JonY. :D Who got up to the top of the tower? Not quite the top JM, but CULWULLA got to level 74 and took those great pics while he had the opportunity. Who wouldn't?

I was in Sydney not long ago and in real life it’s a MONSTER! Well, compared with the surrounding buildings. Not for long emmeka as W.T. is getting a new neighbor i.e. Latitude. BTW World Tower is not all residential, as the top green glass cladded Premium floors at this stage will be serviced apartments.

As far as surrounding buildings go, Latitude will reach 728ft on completion, at this stage topping out late 2004. .

Leave it to Richard to even get the opportunity, much less take advantage of it. ;)

Latitude is the rare building that is turning out better in life than in the renderings.

Yes, even though Eureka is being constructed in beautiful Melbourne,
it would have been nice for Sydney.

From June to October. Latitude munching away at

On Friday we ventrued to the 76th floor of this 80 storey tower and had a good look around.
In the open areas, the wind force that day was quite strong too.

Some more nice pics by CULWULLA (I took a couple of forumer shots @ level 76 instead).

It will glow green in the evenings.

The cranes atop of World tower are expected to come down by Feb./March next year.

Pic taken only 5 minutes walk from my apartment:

I call this pic "Crane Mazurka" (Mazurka being a frenzied Polish dance from the 16th Century):

I correct myself. Even though the glass cladding of the latern is green, over the last 3 evenings,
W.T.'s latern has been GLOWING bright blue:

Internally, the sky-rise apartments won't be completed until late 2004/early 2005,
although Meriton is running ahead of schedule with this one :)

I think that sydney needed something like this. i love its random angles and projections. its so unpredictable.

JonY
January 11th, 2004, 04:35 AM
Speaking of...

...Sydney on a social level is unpredictable and the same goes for some of the architecture.
World Tower is like a good movie script i.e. it twists and turns, unpredtictable and constantly retains a fascination.
This tower is going to be a beauty ("beauty" being Aussie slang).
