Peter Green, English blues god, one of the best guitarists who ever lived, in the same band (John Mayall's Bluesbreakers) as Eric Clapton and bassist John McVie (which recruited Keith Richards following the departure of all three) before founding Fleetwood Mac in 1968, borrowing the surnames of McVie and Bluesbreakers dummer Mick Fleetwood to create the band's moniker.

If you accept it, crop it as you will. But you might want to ask thebluepearls.com for permission, I guess; although I've seen other sites use this same exact jpeg.

When I was first browsing this site, I noticed the large disparity between the number of male and female avatars. My (erroneous) conclusion was that this site was a male-oriented perspective of New York City.

My intellectual curiosity kept me on here: "What exactly IS a man's perspective of NYC?" After reading many posts as a guest, I realized that there is no gender bias on this site; there are simply more male avatars because there are more men.

I wonder, though: how many female guests browsed the avatars, came to the same initial conclusion I came to, and never joined?

My question was a suggestion in disguise. It was in such disguise, I myself didn't even know it was a suggestion. (Halloweeen overload.)

The "chicken and egg" effect should be looked into with regard to avatars. Consider a perhaps not-hypothetical situation:

Female guests look through the avatars and notice that there's a high number of male avatars. They *erroneously* conclude that it's a male-slanted site. Yet other female guests see that none of the twelve avatars represent them, and they conclude that they are "not the type" for this site. The staff here sees that with the number of females joining and being active in this site, putting more female avatars up is not a tremendous priority...

You are eligible to have a custom profile once you become a Senior Member, (200 posts).Not on this forum. Custom avatars aren't allowed at anytime, I don't think.

I don't know the requirements for a custom avatar. I believe it's senior member status, but don't quote me on that, its an administrators decision (Edward), not mine. Things might have changed or I might be remembering incorrectly. Anyway your best bet is to send Edward a private message. I forgot that I had a custom avatar, I've decided to bring it back though.

If there was a way to link the avatar selection page to who had them...

I don't know, have an icon next to them indicating whether they are taken or not. If you select one of the pictures (click on it) it would take you to a page where it would show a list of everyone that has that icon and the date of their last post....

As for getting a custom... I did not see that option on mine at all. I guess I have not posted enough yet... ;)

Forum members from the newly created usergroup Forum Veterans (over 1,000 posts) can now have a custom avatar - they can upload a 70x90 pixel picture (under 10kbytes) either from their computer or internet (by URL).

It's fine if you keep them up, except it's not blood on my mouth :D It was originally a picture of me with my mouth closed. I intended to make i look like my mouth had been sewn together, but the line was too thick. :p
